The Lazy Days of Autumn

There's another House Mouse & Friends Challenge on right now and the theme for this one is Fall & it is Challenge #107.  This is my entry for this challenge.  I love the colors of fall and really enjoy making cards using these colors so I had a really good time with this one.  This House Mouse image is called Autumn Cruise. I used copic markers to color the image.  More mustard, chocolate chip & pumpkin pie SU cs was used along with SU set Autumn Splender which was stamped on the choc. chip with versa mark.  The mustard colored strip along the bottom was cut with a Spellbinders Floral Doily Accent die set and the green leaves along the top are Spellbinders Foliage.  The main image was also cut out with a Spellbinders label die as well as the oval mustard piece behind that.  I just love those die sets and don't know how I ever got along without them.  I also love all the punches that are out now and have used a few MS ones on this card.  So, this is my card for this challenge and I'm looking forward to the next one.

Enjoy your week and thanks for visiting my blog!

Morticia & Gomez

I made this card for the HM&F Challenge #106 - Color Challenge Black, Orange, Yellow & Green with a Halloween theme option.  Decided to go with the Halloween theme.  I have used this HM stamp as a wedding card, graduation card and now a halloween card.  I love the Addams family so have decided that this will be Morticia and Gomez Mouse.  My daughter has a lot of Halloween stamps and accessories so have borrowed her SU House of Haunts, Best Friends & Just Between Friends stamps.  The fence and spider web border punches are from MS.  I used a spider web embossing folder on the house portion of the card.  The image was colored with copic markers and I used an oval & scalloped oval nestabilites dies to cut out the image and add the green behind it.  SU black craft inc was used to stamp all the images except the mice who were stamped with black Memento.

Tis The Season

I stayed up late last night to make another House Mouse card for Challenge #105 - Sparkle On Your Christmas Creations.  The sparkle is in the dp, around the main image, the centre of the poinsetta and the brads in the corners.  These two little cuties are going to enjoy a hot cup of cocoa on a cold winters day.  Its not a cold winters day yet, but, it is just around the corner and I'll be wanting to enjoy a hot cup of cocoa too.  I have quite a few christmas cards made so far which is a good thing.  I usually wait until some time in November to get started and then stress myself out trying to get them done.

The image was colored with copic markers.  I added Tis The Season in the corner from a SU set I have.  I cut the image out with a nestabilites die and the poinsetta was also cut out with a die set I just bought.  I added the bells and ribbon, the brads in the corners and centre of the flower and then stickles around the main image and on the brads on the flower.  The dp and cs is from SU.

Well, its Thanksgiving weekend and I'm really enjoying myself making cards and just relaxing.  I will be having dinner at my place with family.  I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend and finding some time to spend with family & friends.  Happy Thanksgiving and thank you for taking a look at my blog.

No Crows Scarecrow

Happy Fall everyone!  I've been itching to do a Fall card as I just love the colors.  A scarecrow makes me think of Fall for some reason so that is what I have used as my image.  The scarecrow, corn stalks & signs are all from High Hopes which I purchased ages ago.  The leaves & acorns on the inside left are from a SU set called Autumn Splendor.  I stamped the HH images on Manga Artist Paper with Memento Black Ink and then colored them with Copics.  I just received the MS Branch border punch in the mail last week and have been wanting to use it.  My collection of punches is getting very large.  There are just so many of them out there these days and they are so wonderful to use.  Spellbinders dies were used for the ovals and MS maple leaf punches for the corners.  I also had some acorn brads which I have added to the corners.  The Maple Leaf border on the inside is also a MS punch.  Heat embossing was used for the 'No Crows' sign and the leaves & acorns on the inside of my card.  All the paper is from Recollections and is called Spice Market which I purchased at Michaels.

Enjoy whats left of the weekend and thanks for visiting my blog!

The Birthday Singing Duo

This is my entry for the House Mouse Challenge #104 - Birthday theme with a bunch of flowers.  They are also having a blog hop in celebration of their 3rd anniversary.  Happy 3rd Birthday HM & Friends!  I've had a chance to look at all the DT cards on the HM&F blog and a closer look on their individual blogs and have also checked out some of the other cards that have been submitted.  There are so many wonderful cards and so many talented people out there.

The name of this HM stamp is Two-Part Harmony.  These 2 little cuties are singing the Happy Birthday song.  I just love the HM images and really enjoy coloring and making cards with them.  These two little singers are colored with copic markers and cut out with a spellbinders die.  The actual card is also cut out with a spellbinders die along with the foliage on the bottom and the tag on the top.  The daisy was made with a MS punch and I added a fancy brad for the centre.  The dp is from stampin up along with the sentiment.  The sparkle around the main image is icicle stickles and I used cotton candy stickles around the sentiment.

Thank you so much for dropping by my blog and taking a look.  I hope you all enjoyed your weekend.

Lovin' The Chocolate

This is my card for the HM & Friends Challenge #103 - No Cookin' Recipe Card.  I had a lot of fun with this one and knew exactly which stamp set and recipe I was going to use when I read the challenge on the blog.  I have never made a pocket card before so I found the single pocket card directions in the SCS Resources.

The HM stamps I used are Chocolate Delight, Jumpin' For Joy & I Love Chocolate.  They were all colored with copic markers.  I used spellbinders dies to cut out the main images and the bg ovals as well.  I sponged SU creamy caramel around the mice, pixie pink around the sentiment with regal rose on the fancy oval behind it & close to cocoa around the recipe.  The dp is from SU along with chocolate chip & pixie pink cs.  The ribbon came from Michaels, I think, and the brown brad is from Bo Bunny.  The recipe I'm sharing is one that I usually make when I'm doing my Xmas baking.

I've been on vacation for 2 weeks now and have thoroughly enjoyed them.  We have had really nasty weather for the most part over June, July & August and now that Sept. has arrived we are having some really hot and beautiful days.  Maybe this is our summer now?  Anyway, I will enjoy whatever we get even if it is from looking out the office window.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. Thanks for stopping by and taking a look at my blog.

Fruit - It Does A Body Good

This is my card for the House Mouse Challenge #102 - Lets Get Fruity.  I just love this little buy with his belly full of summer berries.  He is colored with copic markers on Manga artist paper.  I used lt & dk brown cordinations textured cs and also a dk blue cordinations as well.  3 or 4 different sets of spellbinders dies were used for all the various shapes.  I don't know what I ever did before these came along.  I just love them!  The corner flowers were cut using a die and silver foil.  I added some red and white fancy brads to the centres of the flowers and some small flower brads at the sides and sm square brads above & below the image.

Well, we are finally having some warm summer weather here in sunny Alberta.  About time.  I was starting to think that there are just 2 seasons here - Fall & Winter.  I hope you are enjoying some beautiful weather as well.  Thank you for visiting my blog and enjoy your day.

Family Heartfelt Sympathy

This is a sympathy card that I made for my stepmom who recently lost her stepmom.  She was a big part of our family and was a very memorable woman.  Always so happy and very energetic.  There is going to be a service for her tomorrow so I wanted my stepmom & her brothers to know that we are thinking of them.

The main image and sentiment were stamped with versa mark and then heat embossed with black ep.  The circles, ovals & label were all cut with nestabilities.  Don't know how I ever got along before nestabilites.  I just love them.  The fancy shape at the top was cut with a nestability and bronze foil.  The branches along the sides were cut with a MS border punch.  Love those punches!  I used a roller and kaleidacolor to add the color behind my main image.  Here are the details:

Stamps: SU - Upsy Daisy & Close As A Memory

Paper: SU dp & red riding hood cs, black &white cs & adirondack textured cs

Ink: Versa mark, su choc. chip & cameo coral, pumkin patch kaleidacolor & black

Accessories: Nestabilites, MS border punch, black ep & bronze foil

Techniques: Heat embossing

Well, I hope everyone is enjoying another Sunday.  Thanks for taking a look at my blog.

HMF 100th CHALLENGE BLOG-HOP CELEBRATION

HMF CHALLENGE #100 - BUTTONS, BOWS & BLING

This is my entry for the HMF Challenge #100 Buttons, Bows & Bling.  I decided to make a Christmas card, so this makes 2 xmas cards done and many many more to go.  At least its a start.  I guess I could call this card Christmas in July.  I used copic markers to color this little buy.  I just love the color you get from copics.  I used black ink around the image to give it a bit of a dark frame to make it stand out a little better.  He is placed on Spellbinders red foil that I cut out with a Spellbinders Herloom Ornament die and then ran through the cb with a snowflake embossing folder.  A hole was punched at the top of the ornament and I placed a crystal brad there.  The green & silver ornaments were made by using versa mark with green and silver ep.  The Ho Ho Ho ribbon along the top is from Michaels and I added some Xmas buttons with white ribbon bows in the centres.  There is an opal type ribbon running down from the buttons to the ornaments and then silver stickles added along it to add some sparkle. The dp is from SU.  The holy was cut out with a sizzix die and then I added christmas red stickles for the berries.  EK & MS border punches were used to gussy up the bottom of the card.

I must say that I have been having a great time making cards for the HMF Challenges and love to see what all the DT have come up with.  This was my first time doing a blog hop so that was fun as well.

Thanks so much for taking a look at my cards and visiting my blog.  Have a wonderul day!  Now I'm off to look at all the wonderful entries for this Challenge.

HMF #99 - Swiss Cheese Bate

This is my submission for the HMF Challenge #99 'Make A Splash'.  I have been really enjoying the HM challenges.  My daughter & I both have a lot of HM stamps and I have been using her's for the past couple as she seems to have a lot of stamps with fish & water.  I thought this image was so cute with these little guys using swiss cheese to catch the gold fish.  The gold fish don't seem interested in it at all.

The image was stamped on Manga Artist paper with Memento black ink then colored with copics.  I used some of the new SU dp & cs that I got a couple of weeks ago.  Love the new colors they have.  The corner treatments were made with a new spellbinders die I received called beaded ovals and then I added some purple ovals to the centers.  To finish it off I added brads along the top & bottom with an oriental brad in the center at the top and a punched flower in the center along the bottom.  I decided to add a little sparkle to the goldfish to brighten the main image up a bit.  Here are the ingredients for this card:

Stamps: House Mouse - No Cheese Please

Paper: SU dp, concorde crush, pear pizzazz & peach parfait cs and recollections beige cs
Ink: Memento black & tea stain distressing ink
Accessories: Orange stickles, copic markers, spellbinders dies, marvey flower & corner punches & brads
Techniques: Alcohol markers & dry embossing

Well, our Calgary Stampede is coming to a close today and we finally had some nice weather over the weekend for all the folks who attended.  I would have loved to have spent today sitting next to a nice cool river doing some fishing or having a nice cool swim in a lake and 'making a splash'.  I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and lots of nice weather.  Thank you so much for taking a look at my blog.

HMF #98 - The Lazy Daze of Summer

This is my 2nd submission for the HMF #98 - Here Comes Summer.  This is also a 2nd borrowed stamp from my daughters HM stash.  Since I had to root around the storage room looking for Fish Tales which I used in my 1st submission, I decided I might as well borrow a few more and have them stamped and ready to color.

My office window overlooks the Bow River and it is such a beautiful view.  All summer long I am able to see people floating down the river on their rubber dingy's, canoes, kayaks and pretty much anything else that will float.  It's a great way to enjoy those long hot summer days.

This little guy is supposed to be doing an Autumn Cruise but I have changed it to a Summer Cruise and he is floating lazily down The Bow.  Here are the ingredients:

Stamps:  HM Autum Cruise
Paper:  SU dp, pear pizzazz, daffodil delight & peach parfait cs, Recollections grey cs, Coredinations dk green & dk blue cs, & Manga artist paper.

Ink: Memento - black
Accessories: MS punch around the page & border punch, spellbinders dies, dots ef, Marvey corner punch, butterfly brad, primas, ribbon, copic markers & white gel pen
Techniques:  Alcohol Markers & Dry Embossing

I am really enjoying making cards with these little mice as you can tell by my SCS gallery.  I hope to do many more in the coming weeks.

I have been enjoying the Canada Day long weekend which is coming to a close.  Our friends to the south will be celebrating their day tomorrow and I wish them all a Happy 4th of July!

Take care and thanks for looking.

HMF #98 - Tale of Two Fishermice

This is my submission for the HMF #98 Challenge - Here Comes Summer.  And finally today it feels like summer here in Calgary.  We had the never ending winter which led into a spring full of rain.  Now today finally a beautiful sunny day which is perfect for making a summer card.  I have so many HM stamps but decided to borrow this one from my daughters collection.  There is no better and peaceful way to spend a summer day like fishing.  I think that these two little fishing buddies are adorable.  Theres a little frog watching them and the fish are almost ready to take the bait - I mean tales.

The image was colored with copic markers on manga art paper and stamped with memento black ink.  I used a square nesti to cut the image out and did the embossed edge which you can't really see in real life or in this picture.  I added a thin SU more mustard frame to this and then cut out the green square using the eyelet squares nestabilities die.  The corners were made with gold foil which I cut with a floral doily accent spellbinders die.  I learned about embossing foil on the SCS site.  I have learned so many new techniques and secrets from all the wonderful people on that website.  I added sm blue brads to the corner flower centers and sm gold brads for the sides in the green eyelets.  This is all attached to a square of brown cordinations textured cs and then SU more mustard.

I have a lot more HM stamps to share in future blogs.  Thanks for visiting!  Have a wonderful day!

HMF #96 Challenge - Green & Yellow Football

This is my card for the HMF #96 Challenge. These little guys aren't playing football but they are playing a game. Its called 'Shoot the Pimento'. This will be a birthday card for my niece who has loved olives since birth I think. She might even like to play this game invented by these 2 little mice. Her birthday isn't until December so I'm a bit early making it. Her sisters have their BD's in July and I haven't even started their cards yet. Those might be another challenge on HM...

I colored the main image with copic markers. I love using these markers and have slowly collected quite a collection of them. The sentiment was stamped with black ink and then I used clear ep to heat emboss. A Happy BD embossing folder was used for the bg which I took a sanding block to. A few flowers & brads were added to finish it off.

Here are the ingredients for this card:

Stamp: HM What a Pit & SU Birthday Wishes
Ink: Black Memento
Paper: Green & Yellow Cordinations textured cs, SU barely banana, crumb cake and choc. chip
Accessories: Spellbinders dies, MS punch, Happy BD ef, sanding block, green & yellow Prima's, fancy brads & copic markers.
Techniques: Dry & heat embossing and alcohol markers.

I did stay up late last night finishing this card. I guess I just enjoy the quiet of the evening to do my cards. I never seem to have time during the week nights or days to make my cards, so, I look forward to Saturday nights to do my thing. I love coloring the HM stamps and creating cards for all occassions with them. I look forward to making many more.

I really enjoy reading peoples comments on my cards which are posted here and on Splitcoast. So thank you all for taking the time to look at my cards and I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend.

Cherry Lovin' Mice

We are celebrating the Queen's Birthday here in Canada and I am really enjoying a day off from the office. What better way to spend the day than making cards. With summer just around the corner (I think lol) cherries seem like a fitting subject. It was a really long winter here in Alberta and I thought Spring would never arrive. I love cherries just as much as these 3 little guys and will be looking forward to cherry season.

I left the inside of my card blank so it can be used for several different occasions. All images were stamped on Manga Artist Paper with black Memento ink and then colored in with copic markers. The dp I used is from a K & Company paper pack and the cs is chocolate chip from Stampin Up. The stitching around the edges was done by hand as I'm not good with a sewing machine - small or big. I leave that to my daughter and I don't know where she got her sewing talent from as its certainly not from me. I made the bow in the corner by using cherry ribbon which I purchased at Michaels, a large red brad and red & gold jewellery wire which I wrapped around a screwdriver to make into coils. I then added gold snaps to the other 3 corners to finish it off.

Well, I really should be doing something else today, but, its poring rain out and thats my excuse to spend the day making cards. The trees are really in need of a good drink which is what they are getting. So on that note I'll be off and I do hope everyone has a fantastic Monday and to those who read my blog Thank You for taking the time.

House Mouse May Flowers

Well, it has been such a long time since I've added anything to my blog. The last time was for a baby card for my friend at work, and now this is a card for her second baby. For this card I have used House Mouse stamps which I must say I really do love. The images are so adorable and so much fun to color. It seems like there is a baby boom happening right now, as I have 2 more baby cards to make before July.

The stamps I used were HM Baby Blocks for the front of the card & HM Monica With Pacifier on the inside. Both images were colored with copic markers. I used ms punches for the top & bottom borders & the infinity punch to border the main image. Spellbinders oval dies were used under the main image. Marvel punches for the yellow ovals and corners of the green cs. The bow was cut with a sizzlet die and I took the su spritzer tool to spray pink ink all over the bow. The pins were something that I had been thinking of doing prior to making this card. I took safety pins and added some white fabric paint to the ends to make them look like baby pins. I added prima flowers to the corners with sm silver button brads for centres and added blue ribbon under the image. The dp is from a dp pack from Michaels. I used coredinations cs and a metallic cs for the ovals that I put the pins on. SU pink cs was used for the main part of the card in which everything is attached to.

I do believe that I should make more of an effort in keeping my blog up to date. I have made many cards inbetween these 2 baby cards. Stamping is something that I truly love to do. I spend many late nights doing my stamping and other crafts during my weekends.
